CompositionBIOTAX O 200 CD Tablet is used to treat bacterial infections of the lungs, throat, ears, urinary tract and gastrointestinal system by halting bacterial growth. It combines cefpodoxime, a cephalosporin antibiotic, with clavulanic acid and a probiotic (Lactobacillus) that helps maintain healthy gut bacteria during treatment.
Cefpodoxime stops bacteria from building their protective cell wall, killing them, clavulanic acid blocks an enzyme some resistant bacteria use to destroy cefpodoxime, and the added probiotic helps reduce the risk of antibiotic-associated diarrhoea by supporting the normal balance of gut flora.
Take this tablet strictly as prescribed, with food, and complete the full course even if you feel better early.
Tell your doctor if you have a known allergy to penicillins or cephalosporins. Report persistent or severe loose motions (diarrhoea), which occasionally needs medical review despite the added probiotic support.
