Azoran 25 Tablet is used to treat autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and inflammatory bowel disease, and to help prevent rejection after an organ transplant. It is a single-ingredient immunosuppressant containing azathioprine.
The benefit may build up gradually, so continue taking it even if you do not feel an immediate change. Take it by mouth in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop it suddenly without medical advice.
Because it lowers the body's defences, avoid close contact with people who have infections where possible, keep up with recommended vaccinations and tell your doctor promptly about any signs of infection.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have liver problems or infections, and about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take, especially allopurinol, which interacts seriously with it. Your doctor will arrange regular blood tests to monitor your blood cells and liver. Report any fever, sore throat, unusual bruising or bleeding without delay. Follow the prescribed dose, frequency and duration, report persistent or serious side effects, and do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
