AD 100 Capsule is used to treat sudden (acute) diarrhea in adults and children. It helps reduce the frequency of bowel movements and firms up the stool, which is essential for preventing the dangerous dehydration that often follows a stomach bug. Unlike some older treatments, it helps restore bowel balance without "slowing down" the gut too much or causing rebound constipation.
This medication contains Racecadotril, an enkephalinase inhibitor. It works by preventing the breakdown of natural "antisecretory" chemicals in the gut. By keeping these chemicals active, the medication reduces the excess water and salts that the intestines dump into the stool during an infection, quickly drying up the diarrhea while allowing the body to naturally clear any germs.
This capsule is usually taken three times a day before meals. It should be used alongside "Oral Rehydration Salts" (ORS) to replace lost fluids. Consult your healthcare provider if the diarrhea persists for more than three days or if you notice blood in your stool.
