Take this tablet exactly as prescribed; the dose must not be increased without your doctor's advice, as colchicine has a narrow safety margin. Continue taking it as directed, as advised by your doctor, to help prevent further flares.
Staying well hydrated, following dietary advice to reduce purine-rich foods such as red meat, organ meats, and shellfish, and keeping to all monitoring appointments can support better management of gout alongside this medicine.
Tell your doctor about any kidney, liver, or blood problems, and about all other medicines you are taking before starting, as colchicine has serious interactions with certain medicines, including statins and cyclosporin. Report persistent severe diarrhoea, muscle weakness, or unusual numbness or tingling immediately.
