CompositionZoxan 500 Tablet is used to treat serious and wide-ranging bacterial infections including community-acquired pneumonia, bronchitis, cystitis, prostatitis, gonorrhoea, septic arthritis, pyelonephritis, anthrax, and other complicated infections. It is a broad-spectrum antibiotic effective across many types of infection.
It contains ciprofloxacin 500mg, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, preventing bacteria from replicating and multiplying. Its broad-spectrum activity makes it effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including many difficult-to-treat organisms.
Take the tablet with or without food, with a full glass of water. Avoid antacids, dairy products, and calcium-containing foods close to the time of taking this tablet, as they can reduce absorption. Complete the full prescribed course.
Nausea, diarrhoea, and joint pain are the most commonly reported effects. Rare but serious effects include tendon problems, stop the tablet and contact your doctor immediately if you develop tendon pain or swelling.
