Ursocad 300 Tablet is used to treat certain long-term liver conditions such as primary biliary cirrhosis, and to dissolve certain small, cholesterol-rich gallstones in people with a working gallbladder who cannot have surgery. It supports liver function and improves the flow of bile.
It contains ursodeoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring bile acid. It works by improving bile flow and reducing the levels of harmful bile acids that can damage liver cells. Take it as prescribed, usually with food or milk. Treatment is often long term, taking months to years, so continue even when you feel well.
Alongside this medicine, eating a balanced diet, maintaining a healthy weight, and limiting alcohol support liver health. Your doctor may arrange regular blood tests to monitor your liver and check that treatment is working.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor about any inflammation of the gallbladder or bile ducts, a blocked bile duct, or ongoing loose motions (diarrhoea). Report worsening stomach pain, persistent loose motions, or yellowing of the skin or eyes. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before use.
