Telekast 4 Chewable Tablet 10

TELEKAST 4 CHEWABLE TABLET 10 is used for the following:

• Prevention and management of asthma symptoms

• Prevention of narrowing of airways during physical activity

• Reduction of daytime and nighttime symptoms like coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness in children aged 2-5 years

• Relief from symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever)

• Relief from symptoms of perennial allergic rhinitis that occurs throughout the year

• The tablet should be swallowed directly without crushing or chewing.

• Make sure your child does not exceed the recommended dose without consulting a doctor.

• It's crucial not to discontinue the medicine without consulting your doctor first.

TELEKAST 4 CHEWABLE TABLET 10 is given orally.

TELEKAST 4 CHEWABLE TABLET 10 contains montelukast (4 mg) which acts on the body as follows:

• Leukotriene Receptor Antagonist: Montelukast works by blocking substances called leukotrienes in the body. Leukotrienes cause inflammation and narrowing in the airways which can lead to asthma symptoms.

• Reduces Airway Inflammation: By blocking these leukotrienes, montelukast helps reduce inflammation in the airways, helping manage asthma symptoms and prevent asthma attacks.

• Prevents Pathophysiologic Effects: Leukotrienes play a key role in inducing pathophysiologic effects related to asthma and allergic rhinitis. Montelukast, by inhibiting these leukotrienes, helps prevent these effects, contributing to symptom relief.

• Store TELEKAST 4 CHEWABLE TABLET 10 at room temperature, ideally between 20°C to 30°C.

• Avoid exposing the medicine to excessive light or moisture.

• Always keep it out of the reach of children.

• Ensure you use the medicine before its expiry date.

• If your child has asthma, avoid exposure to allergens like dust mites and pet dander, which can trigger symptoms. Regular cleaning of your home can help reduce these allergens.

• Encourage your child to engage in regular physical activity. However, warming up before exercise and cooling down afterwards can help prevent exercise-induced bronchoconstriction.
