Rytstat 25 Tablet 6

Rytstat 25 Tablet is used to manage anaemia in adults with chronic kidney disease. Uses of Rytstat 25 Tablet are:

• Anaemia in chronic kidney disease: This medicine helps increase haemoglobin levels (a protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen) in adults whose kidneys are not working properly. Chronic kidney disease means the kidneys have been damaged for a long time and cannot filter blood well.
• Anaemia in dialysis patients: It is used for adults with kidney disease who are receiving dialysis treatment (a procedure that removes waste from blood when kidneys fail).
• Anaemia in non-dialysis patients: This medicine manages low haemoglobin levels in adults with chronic kidney disease who are not yet on dialysis.

Follow these instructions whilst taking Rytstat 25 Tablet:

• Take Rytstat 25 Tablet on an empty stomach. Do not consume food for at least one hour before and two hours after taking the dose.
• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
• Do not crush or chew the tablet.
• Consult your doctor for specific advice on how to take this medicine.

Rytstat 25 Tablet is taken orally.

Rytstat 25 Tablet contains desidustat (25 mg), which works as follows:

•  Desidustat inhibits prolyl hydroxylase domain enzymes (PHInhibits prolyl hydroxylase enzymes:D1, PHD2 and PHD3), which normally mark hypoxia-inducible factor-alpha (HIF-α) proteins for breakdown when oxygen levels are normal.
• Stabilises hypoxia-inducible factor: Inhibiting these enzymes stabilises HIF-α and activates the body’s natural response to reduced oxygen availability.
• Increases endogenous erythropoietin production: The activated HIF pathway increases the production of erythropoietin, primarily in the kidneys and also in the liver. Erythropoietin stimulates the bone marrow to produce red blood cells.
• Improves iron availability: HIF activation supports genes involved in iron absorption and transport. Increased erythropoiesis also lowers hepcidin levels, helping make stored iron more available for haemoglobin and red blood cell production.

• Store Rytstat 25 Tablet at room temperature below 30°C in a cool, dry place.
• Keep the container tightly closed to protect the medicine from moisture and heat.
• Store away from direct sunlight and excessive humidity.
• Keep out of reach of children and pets.
• Do not use the medicine after the expiry date printed on the packaging.

• Maintain adequate iron levels: Eat iron-rich foods like green leafy vegetables, beans, and fortified cereals, as desidustat (the active ingredient) works better when your body has sufficient iron stores to support red blood cell production.
• Follow an individualised kidney-friendly diet: Potassium, phosphorus, sodium, protein and fluid requirements vary according to your kidney function, dialysis status and blood-test results. Follow the dietary plan recommended by your doctor or renal dietitian instead of restricting specific foods without medical advice.
