Prazopill XL 5 Tablet is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), heart failure, and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). It contains prazosin, an alpha-blocker, and works by relaxing blood vessels and the muscles of the prostate and bladder neck.
Prazosin works by relaxing the muscles in blood vessel walls, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow, and it also relaxes the muscles of the prostate and bladder neck, easing urinary symptoms in men with an enlarged prostate.
Take this extended-release tablet once daily, with or without food, exactly as your doctor prescribes, and take your first dose at bedtime, since this medicine can cause dizziness, especially when starting treatment.
Rise slowly from sitting or lying down to reduce dizziness, particularly during the first few days of treatment or after a dose increase. Tell your doctor if you are due for eye surgery, as prazosin can affect the eye's pupil response during cataract surgery.
