Prazopress 1 Tablet 10

Prazopress 1 Tablet is used for:

• Managing high blood pressure

• Easing the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia, a noncancerous enlargement of the prostate gland

• Assisting in the relief of Raynaud's disease, a condition that can cause coldness and numbness in fingers and toes

• Helping manage the symptoms of congestive heart failure

• Controlling symptoms related to pheochromocytoma, a rare tumour of adrenal gland tissue

• Reducing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) associated nightmares

Here's how you should take Prazopress 1 Tablet:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew it.

• The first dose should preferably be taken at bedtime to avoid feeling faint.

• Never exceed the recommended dose without consulting your doctor.

• Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly. Always consult your doctor first.

Prazopress 1 Tablet is taken orally.

Prazopress 1 Tablet contains prazosin (1 mg) which acts in the body as follows:

• Alpha-1 Adrenergic Receptor Blockage: Prazosin works by inhibiting or blocking the alpha-1 adrenergic receptors present on the smooth muscles of blood vessels and the prostate gland.

• Blood Pressure Reduction: By blocking these receptors, prazosin relaxes and dilates the blood vessels, thereby decreasing peripheral vascular resistance. This action effectively reduces blood pressure.

• Prostate Symptom Relief: In the prostate gland, the blockage of these receptors by prazosin results in the relaxation of the smooth muscles, which in turn improves the flow of urine and relieves symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia.

• Keep your Prazopress 1 Tablet in its original container, tightly sealed.

• Store it at room temperature.

• Avoid exposing the medicine to direct light, heat or moisture.

• Ensure you keep this medicine out of reach of children.

• Make sure to use the Prazopress 1 Tablet before its expiry date.

• Since Prazopress 1 Tablet is used to manage hypertension, consider reducing your intake of salty foods, as high salt consumption can escalate blood pressure.

• If you're taking this medication for benign prostatic hyperplasia, include foods rich in zinc, like pumpkin seeds and chickpeas, in your diet. Zinc may help maintain prostate health.
