Cefpodoxime Proxetil (100 Mg) + Clavulanic Acid (62.5 Mg)

Podcef Cv 100 Mg Dry Syrup 30 Ml is an antibiotic used in children to treat bacterial infections of the chest, ears, nose, throat, urinary tract and skin, and dental and abdominal infections. It does not work for viral infections.

It contains cefixime, a cephalosporin antibiotic, and clavulanic acid, which protects the antibiotic from the enzymes some bacteria use to resist it.

Give it to the child at the dose and for the full course prescribed, even if they feel better early.

Tell the doctor about any allergy to penicillin or cephalosporins before use. Report a rash, swelling or severe diarrhoea.

Podcef Cv 100 Mg Dry Syrup 30 Ml is used to treat bacterial infections in children.

Uses of Podcef Cv 100 Mg Dry Syrup 30 Ml are:

Respiratory Infections: Treats pneumonia, bronchitis, tonsillitis and throat infections.
Ear, Urinary and Skin Infections: Treats ear, urinary tract and skin infections.
Other Infections: Treats dental, abdominal and certain other infections.

Reconstitute the dry syrup with water as per the instructions provided on the label.

Podcef Cv 100 Mg Dry Syrup 30 Ml combines two active ingredients:

Cefpodoxime Proxetil (100 mg): This ingredient is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It inhibits the synthesis of the peptidoglycan layer of bacterial cell walls. This leads to cell breakdown and death of the bacteria.
Clavulanic Acid (62.5 mg): This component acts as a beta-lactamase inhibitor. Certain bacteria produce beta-lactamase enzymes, which can inactivate some penicillin and cephalosporin antibiotics. Clavulanic acid attaches itself to these enzymes irreversibly, preventing them from degrading cefpodoxime. This increases the susceptibility of beta-lactamase-producing bacteria to cefpodoxime.
