CompositionPiranulin Tablet is used to support memory, concentration and thinking in adults with cognitive impairment, such as after a stroke or in some types of dementia, as prescribed by a doctor. It is a combination medicine containing piracetam 800mg and alpha glycerylphosphorylcholine (alpha-GPC) 250mg, and belongs to a group of medicines called nootropics.
Alpha-GPC provides choline, which the brain uses to make acetylcholine, a chemical involved in memory, while piracetam is thought to support communication between nerve cells. The evidence for these benefits is limited, so it is used alongside, not instead of, standard care. Swallow the tablet whole with water, as prescribed.
Staying mentally and socially active, regular physical activity, a balanced diet, good sleep and controlling blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol all support brain health.
Do not take this medicine if you have severe kidney disease, a recent bleed in the brain, or Huntington's disease. Piracetam can affect blood clotting, so tell your doctor if you have a bleeding disorder, are having surgery, or take blood thinners. Tell your doctor about kidney problems and other medicines you take. It is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Do not stop it suddenly if you have been taking it for a long time. Contact your doctor if you notice unusual movements, agitation, unusual bleeding or bruising. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
