Pause Injection is used to control heavy menstrual bleeding, nosebleeds, and certain cases of internal eye bleeding. It is vital for reducing blood loss during or after surgeries of the bladder, prostate, or cervix. This medication also helps manage bleeding in patients with hemophilia, ensuring safe and effective clot stabilization.

Administer Pause Injection following these steps:

• This medicine must only be administered by a qualified doctor in a hospital or clinic setting.
• Remember, it should never be administered intramuscularly or subcutaneously.
• Before administration, ensure the solution is clear and colourless. Do not use it if it contains particulate matter or is discoloured.

Pause Injection is administered intravenously.

Pause Injection contains tranexamic acid (500 mg), which works on your body as follows:

• Inhibition of Plasminogen Activation: Tranexamic acid inhibits the activation of plasminogen to plasmin. Plasminogen is a substance that gets converted into an enzyme called plasmin.

• Stabilisation of Blood Clots: By preventing the conversion of plasminogen into plasmin, tranexamic acid stops plasmin from breaking down fibrin clots - a key component in blood clotting. This helps stabilise blood clots.

• Reduction in Bleeding: Tranexamic acid helps reduce bleeding by stabilising blood clots and promoting haemostasis (the stoppage of bleeding). The reduction in bleeding is particularly useful when the bleeding is caused by excessive breakdown of blood clots (fibrinolysis).

• Avoid direct sunlight and do not freeze the product.

• Always keep this medicine out of reach of children.

• If you're managing heavy menstrual bleeding, consider increasing your intake of iron-rich foods like spinach and lentils to help compensate for blood loss.

• To alleviate nosebleeds, try using a humidifier at home as dry air can cause nasal tissues to dry out and bleed.
