CompositionNitrostar 100mg Tablet Sr 10 is used to treat and prevent urinary tract infections (UTIs), including infections of the bladder and kidneys caused by susceptible bacteria.
It contains nitrofurantoin, an antibiotic that works against the bacteria causing the infection. Take it with food as prescribed, as this helps reduce stomach upset and improves absorption. Complete the full course even if you feel better early, to fully clear the infection.
Drink plenty of water through the day, as staying well hydrated supports the treatment and helps flush bacteria from the urinary tract. Passing urine regularly and not holding it in for long periods can also help.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have kidney problems, are pregnant or near term, or have a known allergy to nitrofurantoin. Contact your doctor if you develop yellowing of the skin or eyes, persistent cough, or breathlessness, as these need prompt attention.
