NICOMALOM 3 TABLET 10 is used to prevent and treat blood clots in conditions including deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism, atrial fibrillation and mechanical heart valves, and to reduce the risk of stroke and systemic embolism in high-risk patients.

It contains acenocoumarol (3 mg), a vitamin K antagonist anticoagulant. The dose is adjusted by your doctor based on regular INR blood test results; it is critical to attend all monitoring appointments and keep the dose exactly as prescribed.

Eating a consistent diet, avoiding sudden large changes in vitamin K intake (green leafy vegetables) and limiting alcohol supports stable INR control alongside this medicine.

Tell your doctor about all other medicines, supplements and herbal remedies you take, as many interact. Avoid activities with a high risk of injury. Report unusual or prolonged bleeding, including nosebleeds, blood in the urine or dark stools, immediately.

Follow these instructions while taking NICOMALOM 3 TABLET 10:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Do not crush or chew the tablet.

• Take this medicine at the same time each day.

• Never stop taking this medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor.

NICOMALOM 3 TABLET 10 contains nicoumalone (3 mg), which works in your body through the following mechanisms:

• Vitamin K antagonism: Nicoumalone blocks the action of vitamin K, which is essential for the production of certain clotting factors in your liver. This reduces the availability of active vitamin K in your body.

• Clotting factor inhibition: By reducing active vitamin K, this medicine decreases the synthesis of several clotting factors (proteins that help blood to clot). This prevents the formation of harmful blood clots in your body.

• Anticoagulant effect: The medicine creates a carefully balanced state where your blood is less likely to form dangerous clots while still allowing necessary clotting for injuries. This effect is measured using a blood test called INR (International Normalised Ratio).

• Drink enough water, eat a healthy and balanced diet, and try not to make sudden changes to what you eat.
