CompositionMetron Infusion 100ml is used to treat serious bacterial infections such as peritonitis, intra-abdominal abscess and liver abscess, helping clear infection and support recovery in hospitalised patients.
It contains metronidazole, a nitroimidazole antibiotic, given directly into a vein by your care team. It is generally given alongside other antibiotics for infections involving a mix of bacteria types. Continue the full course of treatment as advised, even if you begin to feel better, to ensure the infection is fully cleared.
While receiving this infusion, staying well hydrated and eating as normally as possible, as advised by your care team, supports your body's recovery from infection.
Before starting this medicine, tell your care team if you have liver problems, a blood disorder, or a nervous system condition. Report any numbness, tingling or weakness in the hands or feet during treatment, and inform your care team if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
