Composition

Carbidopa (25 Mg) + Levodopa (100 Mg)

LCD 125 Tablet is used to manage the symptoms of Parkinson's disease, such as tremor, stiffness and slowness of movement. It is a combination medicine containing levodopa, which the brain converts to dopamine, and carbidopa, which helps more levodopa reach the brain and reduces nausea.

This tablet improves movement, walking, balance and coordination. Take it as prescribed, and do not stop it suddenly; nausea can occur early on and usually settles.

Gentle exercise, physiotherapy and a balanced diet can support movement alongside this medicine. High-protein meals may reduce how well it is absorbed.

Tell your doctor about any heart problems, glaucoma, mental health conditions or other medicines you take. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.

LCD 125 Tablet is used to manage Parkinson's disease in adults, easing tremor, stiffness and slowness of movement and improving walking, balance and coordination.

Uses of LCD 125 Tablet are:

Parkinson's Disease: Reduces tremor, stiffness and slowness of movement.
Movement and Coordination: Improves walking, balance and coordination.

Follow these instructions while taking LCD 125 Tablet:

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
Do not crush, break or chew the tablet.
Continue taking this medicine regularly as advised by your doctor.
Never stop taking this medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor.

LCD 125 Tablet is taken orally.

LCD 125 Tablet may cause some side effects that are usually mild and go away as your body adjusts to the medicine.

A few common side effects of LCD 125 Tablet:

Digestive: Feeling sick (nausea), vomiting and loss of appetite.
Neurological: Dizziness, involuntary movements (dyskinesia) and sleepiness.
Cardiovascular: Low blood pressure on standing.

If any side effect does not improve or becomes serious, speak to your doctor. Do not stop taking the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.

Management Of Side Effects:

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless, and they resolve when you discontinue using LCD 125 Tablet. However, if you experience any serious side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

Here are some general guidelines for managing common side effects:

Nausea and vomiting: Taking LCD 125 Tablet with a light snack or meal can help reduce these stomach-related effects.
Orthostatic hypotension: Taking your medicine after meals rather than on an empty stomach may help reduce the sudden drop in blood pressure.

LCD 125 Tablet contains two active ingredients that work together to manage Parkinson's disease symptoms:

Levodopa (100 mg): This is a precursor of dopamine, a neurotransmitter (brain chemical) that helps control movement. Once levodopa crosses the blood-brain barrier (the protective membrane separating the bloodstream from brain tissue), it converts into dopamine in the brain, replenishing the deficient levels of this important neurotransmitter.
Carbidopa (25 mg): This component is decarboxylase inhibitor, prevents the premature breakdown of levodopa outside the brain. By blocking an enzyme called decarboxylase in peripheral tissues, carbidopa ensures that more levodopa reaches the brain where it's needed.

Pregnancy

Caution is advised while taking LCD 125 Tablet if you are pregnant. It is best to consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Breastfeeding

Caution is advised while taking LCD 125 Tablet during breastfeeding. Levodopa passes into breast milk, and your baby should be monitored for possible side effects. If you are breastfeeding, discuss with your doctor before using this medicine.

Alcohol

Avoid drinking alcohol while taking LCD 125 Tablet as it may increase side effects like dizziness and drowsiness. Alcohol might also reduce the effectiveness of this medicine in managing your Parkinson's symptoms.

Liver

Caution is advised while taking LCD 125 Tablet if you have any liver problems. Your doctor may need to adjust your dosage based on your liver function. This medicine may affect how your liver works.

Kidney

Antihypertensive medicines: When taken with LCD 125 Tablet, medicines like enalapril or lisinopril may cause excessive lowering of blood pressure.
Tricyclic antidepressants: Medicines such as amitriptyline or imipramine may increase the risk of side effects when taken with LCD 125 Tablet.
Iron supplements: Products containing ferrous sulphate or fumarate can bind to levodopa and reduce its absorption, decreasing its effectiveness.
