Ivapace 5 Tablet is primarily used for managing chronic stable angina pectoris in adults who are unable to tolerate or have a contraindication to beta-blockers. This medicine is part of the selective and specific inhibitors of the cardiac pacemaker.

In addition to the above primary use, this medicine also assists in the treatment of symptomatic chronic heart failure, particularly in patients with certain heart rate and rhythm conditions. It is also effective in managing stable symptomatic heart failure due to dilated cardiomyopathy in paediatric patients aged 6 months and older.

Before you start taking this medicine, it’s essential to inform your doctor about any pre-existing conditions or ongoing medications. Chronic stable angina pectoris in adults unable to use beta-blockers.
Chronic heart failure with systolic dysfunction in adults, where the heart rate is 75 bpm or more.
Stable heart failure due to dilated cardiomyopathy in children aged 6 months and older.

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
Avoid chewing or crushing the tablet.
Do not exceed the recommended dosage without your doctor's advice.

Ivapace 5 Tablet contains ivabradine (5 mg), which works on the body in the following ways:

Inhibits HCN channel: Ivabradine blocks the hyperpolarization-activated cyclic nucleotide-gated (HCN) channel responsible for the cardiac pacemaker If current. This current controls spontaneous diastolic depolarisation in the sinus node, which is the heart's natural pacemaker.
Decreases heart rate: By inhibiting the If current, ivabradine effectively reduces the heart rate. It does so without influencing ventricular repolarisation or myocardial contractility, which means it doesn't affect the resetting of the heart's electrical activity or the heart muscle's ability to contract.

Pregnancy

Ivapace 5 Tablet should ideally be avoided during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary. Always consult your doctor before taking this medicine if you are pregnant.

Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding is not recommended when taking Ivapace 5 Tablet. Please discuss this with your doctor to understand the potential risks and benefits.
