Empagliflozin (25 Mg) + Metformin (1000 Mg) + Sitagliptin (100 Mg)

Istamet Empa 25/100/1000 Tablet 10 is used to manage type 2 diabetes control. It is a combination antidiabetic medicine containing empagliflozin, metformin and sitagliptin.

This medicine helps lower blood glucose levels in adults with inadequately controlled type 2 diabetes. It also provides multi-pathway blood sugar regulation alongside diet and physical activity. It also supports the prevention of diabetes-related cardiovascular, renal, and neurological complications.

Regular meals, a balanced diet and physical activity can support blood sugar control alongside this medicine.

Before starting, tell your doctor about your medical conditions and allergies. Tell the doctor about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Empagliflozin (25 mg): Empagliflozin is a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor. It lowers blood glucose by reducing glucose reabsorption in the kidneys, leading to increased glucose excretion through urine.
Metformin (1000 mg): Metformin is a biguanide that decreases glucose production in the liver and improves insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues, enhancing glucose utilisation.
Sitagliptin (100 mg): Sitagliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that increases levels of incretin hormones, thereby improving insulin release and reducing glucagon secretion in a glucose-dependent manner.

Pregnancy

Pancreatitis: Sitagliptin has been associated with reports of acute pancreatitis, requiring immediate discontinuation if suspected.
