INSUGEN 50/50 40IU Injection is used to manage blood sugar levels in patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is a biphasic human insulin combining short-acting and intermediate-acting insulin components.
The short-acting portion starts working quickly after injection to control blood sugar around meals, while the intermediate-acting portion provides a longer, steadier effect, together giving more complete blood sugar coverage through the day.
This insulin is given by injection under the skin, usually before a meal, exactly as your doctor or diabetes nurse has shown you. Rotate the injection site each time, and never change your dose or timing without medical advice.
Never stop or skip insulin doses on your own, even if you feel unwell, as this can lead to dangerously high blood sugar; contact your doctor instead if you are struggling with your dose. Learn to recognise the signs of low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia), and always carry a fast-acting sugar source.
