CompositionIdrofos Kit is a combination treatment used to manage osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and to reduce the risk of bone fractures, including fractures of the spine and hip. It contains ibandronate, a bisphosphonate, usually supplied together with calcium and vitamin D.
Ibandronate works by slowing down the cells that break down bone tissue, which helps maintain bone density and strengthen bones over time, while the calcium and vitamin D support healthy bone mineralisation.
Take the ibandronate tablet first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, with a full glass of plain water only, at least 30 to 60 minutes before any other food, drink or medicine. Stay upright, sitting or standing, for at least an hour afterwards, and take the calcium or vitamin D component at a different time of day as directed.
Tell your doctor if you have swallowing difficulties, oesophageal problems, or a history of jaw problems, especially before dental work, as bisphosphonates carry a small risk of jaw bone problems. Report chest pain, difficulty swallowing, or new heartburn, since the tablet can irritate the food pipe if not taken correctly.
