Griseo 500 Tablet 10 is used to treat fungal infections of the skin, hair and nails. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing griseofulvin, and belongs to the class of antifungal medicines.
This medicine works by disrupting the formation of structures needed for fungal cell division and by binding to keratin, the structural protein in skin, hair and nails, so that as new keratin grows it resists further fungal attack. This mechanism means treatment needs to continue for several weeks to months for complete eradication of the infection. Take this tablet with food, ideally a fatty meal, to improve absorption, in the dose and duration prescribed by your doctor.
Tell your doctor about any liver problems, and about any other medicines you are taking, before starting this medicine. It is contraindicated during pregnancy. Complete the full course as prescribed, even if your symptoms improve, to fully clear the infection. Report any skin rash or unusual fatigue to your doctor. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
