Ferium XT Tablet is a combination medicine and belongs to the nutritional supplement group of medicines. It primarily treats iron deficiency anemia, menorrhagia, and folate deficiency anemia.

It also reduces the risk of pre-eclampsia which generally occurs in severe or very severe anemia, and the risk of fetal neural tube defects.

Directions for Use of Ferium Xt Tablet 10

Swallow this tablet with a whole glass of water.
Do not crush or chew the tablet, as this may affect the way the medication is absorbed in the body.
Do not change the tablet dose or take them more often than prescribed.

Antibiotics such as tetracyclines, quinolones, and chloramphenicol. Iron can reduce the absorption of these antibiotics. Take them 2 hours before or 2 hours after this tablet.

Drug-Food Interactions

Ferium XT Tablet can interact with the following foods:

Milk, tea, or coffee: This tablet is not advised to take with milk as it can hamper the absorption of iron in this tablet.
Eggs: This tablet is not advised to take with eggs as it can inhibit the absorption of iron in this tablet.

Drug-Disease Interactions

Ferium XT Tablet can interact with the following disease/conditions:

Hemochromatosis (excess iron in body): The tablet may worsen the existing condition.
Blood disease such as hemolytic anaemia (a condition with an abnormally low number of red blood cells): The tablet may worsen the existing condition.

Daily Dose

The recommended daily dose of Ferium XT Tablet should be taken as directed by your doctor. The dosage may change on individual factors such as age, severity of diseases and response to the treatment. It is essential to follow the doctors’ advice on dosage and not exceed the dosage without a doctor’s consultation.

Over Dose

If you or someone else takes an excessive amount of Ferium XT Tablet by accident, it is essential to take the patient to the nearest doctor in case you experienc severe side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms.

Missed Dose

Protect it from light and moisture.

Pair iron-rich foods with vitamin C sources like citrus fruits, bell peppers, and strawberries. Vitamin C enhances iron absorption.
Limit tea and coffee. These beverages can inhibit iron absorption. Avoid drinking them with iron-rich meals.
Avoid calcium-rich foods with iron. Calcium can interfere with iron absorption. Separate your calcium-rich foods, like dairy products, from iron-rich meals.
Cook in cast iron. Cooking with cast-iron cookware can increase the iron content in your meals.
