Dosage Forms Available

• Ferrous Ascorbate + Folic Acid is available for use via the oral route (syrup).

Age and Dose Restrictions

• This combination is meant for adults and children above 18 years of age.

Contraindications

• This medicine should be avoided in individuals with allergy to iron, particularly those with bacterial infections. Furthermore, it is contraindicated in patients diagnosed with hemosiderosis, hemochromatosis, and hemolytic anaemia.

Other Medications to Avoid

• Magnesium trisilicate and antacids containing carbonates impede the absorption of iron. Therefore, it is advisable to avoid taking oral iron products simultaneously with oral tetracycline antibiotics, as they can interfere with each other's absorption. It is recommended to separate the intake of these products by at least two hours.

Overdose and Missed Dose

• Overdose of this medication may cause symptoms like gastrointestinal mucosa: nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, epigastric pain, hematemeses and rectorrhagia. If you observe these symptoms, inform your doctor and follow the advice accordingly.
• If you forget to take this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. But avoid repeating the dose.

• Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when you discontinue this combination. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

• This combination will not affect your ability to drive or operate heavy machinery.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• This combination is safe to take during pregnancy and lactation. However, consult your doctor before taking it in such situations. 

Caution in Other Conditions

• People with kidney and liver issues should exercise caution while taking this medication.

• Avoid alcohol when you are taking this combination.
• Consume a balanced diet, prioritise green leafy vegetables, and maintain a routine of regular physical exercise. Minimise consumption of junk food from external sources, opting instead for freshly prepared home-cooked meals. 
• Incorporate more fruits into your diet, particularly those high in iron such as pomegranate and citrus fruits. Stay hydrated by drinking ample fluids throughout the day.
