Epsolin ER 300 Tablet is used for the following:

• Controlling tonic-clonic seizures
• Managing complex partial seizures
• Preventing simple partial seizures
• Managing epilepsy
• Preventing seizures after brain surgery
• Managing seizures from severe head injury
• Relief from trigeminal neuralgia pain
• Stabilising abnormal brain electrical activity
• Preventing recurring seizure episodes

Follow these instructions while taking Epsolin ER 300 Tablet:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water.
• Do not crush, break, or chew the tablet as it is an extended-release formulation.
• You can take this medicine with or without food.
• Take this medicine at the same time each day to maintain consistent levels in your body.
• Never stop taking this medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor.
• If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it's almost time for your next dose.

Epsolin ER 300 Tablet is taken orally.

Epsolin ER 300 Tablet contains phenytoin (300 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Sodium Channel Stabilisation: Phenytoin stabilises the inactive state of voltage-gated sodium channels in nerve cells, preventing them from opening too frequently and causing abnormal electrical discharges.
• Reduction of Neuronal Excitability: By controlling sodium channel activity, phenytoin decreases the excitability of nerve cells in the brain, making them less likely to fire rapidly or abnormally.
• Prevention of Seizure Spread: The medicine blocks the spread of seizure activity from one area of the brain to another, helping to contain and stop seizures once they begin.
• Regulation of Calcium Movement: Phenytoin affects calcium channels and calcium-dependent processes within neurons, further contributing to its ability to control excessive electrical activity in the brain.
