Empagliflozin (25 Mg)

Empasmart 25 Tablet 10 is primarily used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults and children when diet and exercise alone are not sufficient. It belongs to a group of medicines called sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors.

This tablet also helps protect against heart disease, treat heart failure in adults with reduced heart function, and slow the progression of chronic kidney disease.

Empasmart 25 Tablet 10 is used for:

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: Helps lower blood sugar levels when diet and exercise are insufficient.
Heart Failure: Improves heart function and reduces hospitalisation risks due to heart weakness.
Chronic Kidney Disease: Protects kidney function and delays progression of kidney impairment.

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

Empagliflozin blocks the SGLT2 protein in the kidneys, preventing glucose reabsorption into the bloodstream. This leads to increased glucose elimination through urine, thereby lowering blood sugar levels. Additionally, it helps reduce cardiovascular risks, supports kidney function, and improves outcomes in patients with heart failure.

Pregnancy

Empasmart 25 Tablet 10 is not recommended if you are pregnant. It may harm the unborn child. Consult your doctor for alternative treatment options.

Breastfeeding

Use Empasmart 25 Tablet 10 with caution while breastfeeding. It is not known whether empagliflozin passes into breast milk.

Alcohol

Alcohol consumption can increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia) and dehydration. Avoid excessive intake while on Empasmart 25 Tablet 10.

Liver

Patients with severe liver impairment should use Empasmart 25 Tablet 10 cautiously, as dose adjustments or alternative medicines may be required.

Kidney

Kidney function should be assessed before and during treatment. In severe kidney disease, your doctor may recommend a lower dose or discontinuation.

Using Machines & Driving

Empasmart 25 Tablet 10 may cause dizziness, especially if taken with insulin or sulphonylureas that lower blood sugar. Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery if you feel unwell.

Allergy

Do not take Empasmart 25 Tablet 10 if you are allergic to empagliflozin or any other ingredient in the formulation. Report symptoms such as rash, swelling, or difficulty breathing immediately.

Children

Over Dose
