Composition

Empagliflozin (25 Mg) + Linagliptin (5 Mg)

Empagligen L 25/5 Tablet 10 is used to manage type 2 diabetes in adults alongside diet and exercise, and it can help reduce the risk of cardiovascular death in adults with heart disease. It is not for type 1 diabetes.

It contains empagliflozin, an SGLT2 inhibitor that helps the kidneys remove excess glucose in the urine, and linagliptin, a DPP-4 inhibitor that helps the body release more insulin after meals.

Take it as prescribed, and stay well hydrated during treatment.

Tell your doctor about any kidney problems, repeated genital or urinary infections, or a history of pancreatitis before use. Seek urgent help for nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, severe tiredness or difficulty breathing, as, rarely, this class can cause diabetic ketoacidosis even when blood sugar looks normal.

Empagligen L 25/5 Tablet 10 is used to manage type 2 diabetes.

Uses of Empagligen L 25/5 Tablet 10 are:

Type 2 Diabetes: Helps control blood sugar through two different actions.
Cardiovascular Protection: Helps reduce cardiovascular risk in eligible adults.
Combined Action: Removes excess glucose and increases insulin release.

Swallow the tablet whole with water.
It can be taken with or without food, preferably in the morning.
Do not chew, crush, or split the tablet.
Always follow your doctor’s instructions regarding timing and dosage.

Empagligen L 25/5 Tablet 10 is taken orally.

Empagligen L 25/5 Tablet 10 may cause side effects, but not everyone gets them.

A few common side effects of Empagligen L 25/5 Tablet 10 are:

Urinary and Genital: Urinary tract infections, more frequent urination and genital fungal infections; good hygiene helps.
Respiratory and Skin: Cold-like symptoms of the nose and throat, and a rash or itching; seek urgent help for severe weakness or breathlessness.

Urinary tract infections: Drink plenty of water, maintain good personal hygiene, and contact your doctor if you experience burning sensation during urination.
Abdominal pain or nausea: Take the medicine with food to reduce discomfort and consult your doctor if pain persists.
Dehydration: Increase fluid intake and avoid excessive alcohol or caffeine.

Empagligen L 25/5 Tablet 10 contains the following components:

Empagliflozin (25 mg): It is a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2). It works by blocking SGLT2 in the kidneys, leading to increased removal of glucose through urine, thereby lowering blood sugar levels.
Linagliptin (5 mg): It is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor. It inhibits DPP-4, increasing incretin levels, which help regulate insulin release after meals and decrease glucose production by the liver.

Pregnancy

Empagligen L 25/5 Tablet 10 is not recommended during pregnancy as its safety has not been established. Always consult your doctor before use.

Breastfeeding

It is not known whether empagliflozin or linagliptin passes into breast milk. Breastfeeding mothers should avoid use unless specifically advised by a doctor.

Alcohol

Alcohol can affect blood sugar levels and may increase the risk of dehydration or hypoglycaemia when combined with Empagligen L 25/5 Tablet 10. It is best to avoid alcohol during treatment.

Liver
