Daktarin Gel is used to treat fungal skin infections.

Uses of Daktarin Gel are:

• Athlete's Foot and Jock Itch: Treats these common fungal infections.
• Ringworm: Clears ringworm of the skin.
• Skin Thrush: Treats skin infection caused by Candida.

Here's how you should use Daktarin Gel:

• Prior to application, clean and dry the affected skin areas properly.

• Apply the prescribed amount of gel thinly and evenly on the infected skin and surrounding.

• Gently massage until the gel is fully absorbed into your skin.

• Continue using for a period as recommended by your doctor.

• After each application, wash your hands thoroughly to prevent spreading the infection.

Daktarin Gel is applied topically.

Daktarin Gel contains Miconazole (2 %), which has the following actions on the body:

• Disrupts Fungal Cell Membrane: Miconazole works by disrupting the structure of the fungal cell membrane. This process involves stopping the production of a substance called ergosterol, which is an important part of the fungal cell membrane.

• Increases Permeability: By inhibiting ergosterol synthesis, miconazole increases the permeability of the cell membrane. This causes leakage of cellular contents leading to cell death.

• Halts Fungal Growth: As a result of these actions, miconazole effectively halts the growth of fungi causing the infection.

• Store Daktarin Gel at room temperature below 30°C.

• Keep the tube tightly closed when not in use.

• Avoid exposing the gel to direct sunlight or heat.

• Always keep the gel out of reach of children.

• Maintain proper hygiene: Regularly washing your hands and body can help prevent fungal infections. Make sure you dry your skin thoroughly after bathing, especially in areas like the feet, groin, and armpits, which are prone to fungal growth.

• Wear breathable clothing: Opt for clothes made from natural fibres like cotton that allow your skin to breathe. This can help prevent sweat build-up, which can create a moist environment favourable for fungal growth.
