Topamac 100 Tablet is used in the treatment of seizure disorders and for reducing the frequency of severe headaches.

Topamac 100mg Tablet contains topiramate (100 mg) which acts on the body by:

• Blocking Voltage-Dependent Sodium Channels: This mechanism involves the inhibition of sodium channels in the nerve cells. By doing so, it helps to reduce the abnormal electrical activity in the brain, which can lead to seizures.

• Augmenting GABA-Mediated Inhibition: GABA is a neurotransmitter that acts like a brake to the excitatory neurons in the brain. By enhancing the action of GABA, topiramate helps to calm the brain and prevent seizures.

• Antagonizing AMPA/Kainate Glutamate Receptors: This process involves reducing the action of glutamate, a neurotransmitter that can excite neurons. By doing so, it helps to prevent the abnormal electrical activity that can lead to seizures and migraines.

• Inhibiting Carbonic Anhydrase Enzymes: This action is thought to contribute to the medicine's ability to prevent migraines, although the exact mechanism isn't fully understood.
