Topamac 100mg Tablet is used for the following:

• Management of primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures in adults and children over 2 years old.

• Aid in monotherapy and adjunctive therapy of partial onset seizures for adults and children over 2 years.

• Assist as adjunctive therapy for seizures linked with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome in patients over 2 years old.

• Prevention of migraine headaches in adults and adolescents over 12 years old.

Here's how you should take Topamac 100mg Tablet:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Do not break or chew it.

• Always follow your doctor's advice about when and how to take this medicine.

Topamac 100mg Tablet contains topiramate (100 mg) which acts on the body by:

• Blocking Voltage-Dependent Sodium Channels: This mechanism involves the inhibition of sodium channels in the nerve cells. By doing so, it helps to reduce the abnormal electrical activity in the brain, which can lead to seizures.

• Augmenting GABA-Mediated Inhibition: GABA is a neurotransmitter that acts like a brake to the excitatory neurons in the brain. By enhancing the action of GABA, topiramate helps to calm the brain and prevent seizures.

• Antagonizing AMPA/Kainate Glutamate Receptors: This process involves reducing the action of glutamate, a neurotransmitter that can excite neurons. By doing so, it helps to prevent the abnormal electrical activity that can lead to seizures and migraines.
