Clonate 0.05% Lotion is used for the short-term treatment of severe inflammatory skin conditions, such as psoriasis and resistant eczema, particularly on the scalp and hairy areas. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing clobetasol propionate, a very strong corticosteroid (steroid).
This medicine is also used for lichen planus and other stubborn skin conditions that have not responded to milder steroids. The lotion spreads easily over hairy skin. Apply a small amount to the affected area as prescribed by your doctor, usually for no more than 2 weeks at a time without medical review.
Use a gentle, fragrance-free shampoo and moisturiser, avoid scratching, and do not use harsh hair or skin products on the treated area.
This lotion is for use on the skin and scalp only; keep it away from the eyes. As it contains a very strong steroid, do not use it on the face, groin or underarms, on large areas, or under airtight coverings unless your doctor advises, and it is not suitable for children under 1 year. Before using it, tell your doctor if you have a skin infection, acne, rosacea, or a rash around the mouth, and if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Contact your doctor if the skin becomes thin, develops stretch marks or shows signs of infection. Do not stop using this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
