Cephalkem 500 Capsule 10 is used to:

Treat respiratory tract infections such as pneumonia and bronchitis
Treat skin and soft tissue infections
Treat urinary tract infections
Treat ear infections (otitis media)
Treat certain bone infections caused by susceptible bacteria

Follow these instructions while taking Cephalkem 500 Capsule 10:

Take the capsule exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
Swallow the capsule whole with a full glass of water.
It can be taken with or without food.
Take the medicine at the same time each day.
Follow the full course prescribed, even if you feel better early.

Cephalkem 500 Capsule 10 is taken orally.

Cephalkem 500 Capsule 10 may cause side effects, such as:

Nausea or vomiting
Diarrhoea
Stomach pain or discomfort
Headache
Rash

Most side effects of Cephalkem 500 Capsule 10 are usually mild and improve as your body adjusts to the medicine. However, if any symptom becomes severe or persistent, contact your doctor.

Cephalkem 500 Capsule 10 contains the following active ingredient:

Cephalexin (500 mg): It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, which weakens the bacteria and leads to their destruction. Bacteria have a protective outer layer called a cell wall that helps them survive. Cephalexin interferes with the production of this cell wall. Without a strong cell wall, bacteria become weak and cannot survive. Eventually, the bacteria die, and the infection gradually clears.

Pregnancy

Use Cephalkem 500 Capsule 10 only under medical supervision. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, so they can assess the benefits and risks.

Breastfeeding

Consult your doctor before taking Cephalkem 500 Capsule 10 while breastfeeding. Small amounts of the medicine may pass into breast milk, and your doctor can advise whether it is safe for your baby.

Alcohol

Alcohol does not directly interact with Cephalkem 500 Capsule 10, but it may worsen side effects such as stomach discomfort or dizziness. Limiting alcohol while on treatment is recommended.

Liver

Kidney

Using Machines & Driving
