Ceftas O DS Tablet is used to treat various bacterial infections affecting different parts of the body, including the lungs, urinary tract, ear, nose, throat, and skin.

Uses of Ceftas O DS Tablet are:

• Respiratory Tract Infections: Treats chest and lung infections, including bronchitis and pneumonia.
• Urinary Tract Infections: Helps treat bacterial infections of the bladder and urinary system.
• Ear, Nose, and Throat Infections: Manages bacterial sinus infections (sinusitis) and middle ear infections (otitis media).
• Skin and Other Bacterial Infections: Treats skin and soft tissue infections, typhoid fever, and uncomplicated gonorrhoea.

Here's how you should take Ceftas O DS Tablet:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Avoid crushing, chewing, or splitting the tablet.

• The medicine can be taken with or without food, but taking it with meals may reduce stomach upset.

• Continue taking the medicine for the full prescribed course even if symptoms improve. Early discontinuation may lead to bacterial resistance.

• Always consult your doctor for specific instructions and advice.

Ceftas O DS Tablet is taken orally.

Ceftas O DS Tablet consists of two active ingredients:

• Cefixime (400 mg): This is a third-generation cephalosporin that functions by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. It binds to what are known as penicillin-binding proteins in the bacteria and deactivates them. This disrupts the links between peptidoglycan molecules, causing the cell wall to weaken and eventually resulting in the death of the bacteria.

• Ofloxacin (400 mg): This is a fluoroquinolone that works by blocking DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV enzymes in bacteria. These enzymes are crucial for DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination processes in bacteria. By blocking these enzymes, ofloxacin disrupts these processes leading to bacterial cell death.

The combined action of cefixime and ofloxacin provides broad-spectrum coverage against various gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

• Keep Ceftas O DS Tablet at room temperature, ideally between 20°C to 25°C.

• Shelter the medicine from direct light, heat, and moisture. Don't refrigerate or freeze it.

• Make sure the medicine is out of reach of children and pets.

• Always check the expiry date before using the tablet.

• For urinary tract infections managed by Ceftas O DS Tablet, drink plenty of water daily. This helps flush bacteria out of your urinary tract.

• If you're taking this medicine for respiratory infections, avoid smoking or exposure to second-hand smoke. It can worsen your symptoms and slow down recovery.
