Cefoclox-XL Tablet contains three active ingredients:
Cefpodoxime Proxetil (200 mg): This third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic interferes with the synthesis of the peptidoglycan layer of bacterial cell walls. This weakens their structure leading to rupture and eventual death of the bacteria. An additional action involves inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis.
Dicloxacillin (500 mg): As a penicillinase-resistant penicillin antibiotic, dicloxacillin also works on bacterial cell walls but is specifically resistant to certain enzymes produced by bacteria. Like cefpodoxime, it interferes with cell wall synthesis leading to bacterial death.
Lactic Acid Bacillus (90 million organisms): While not having antibacterial action itself, lactic acid bacillus is a probiotic that helps replenish gut flora which may have been disrupted by the antibiotics. This reduces potential gastrointestinal side effects and supports overall intestinal health.
Cefoclox-XL Tablet is contraindicated during pregnancy. If you are pregnant or planning to conceive, make sure to discuss this with your doctor before starting this medicine.
Cefoclox-XL Tablet is not recommended for breastfeeding women. It is advisable to consult your doctor to understand the potential risks and benefits.
