CALCINASE Nasal Spray is prescribed for postmenopausal osteoporosis in women who have been postmenopausal for more than five years, particularly when other treatments are not suitable or tolerated. It contains salmon calcitonin, a hormone that regulates calcium and bone metabolism.
Salmon calcitonin works by slowing down the cells that break down bone tissue, which helps preserve bone density and may also provide some pain relief in certain bone-related conditions.
Use one spray into each nostril as your doctor prescribes, alternating nostrils between doses if advised, and prime the pump before first use according to the product instructions.
Tell your doctor if you have a known allergy to calcitonin or fish proteins, as an allergic reaction can occur. Report persistent nasal irritation, nosebleeds or crusting, and have your calcium levels checked periodically during long-term use.
