C Tax O 400 Mg Tablet 10 is an antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections, including infections of the chest, urinary tract and ears, typhoid fever and uncomplicated gonorrhoea. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing cefixime, and belongs to a class of medicines called cephalosporin antibiotics.
This medicine works by stopping bacteria from building their protective cell wall, which kills them and clears the infection. It is also used for bacterial throat and sinus infections. Swallow the tablet with water, with or without food, and use the dose and duration your doctor prescribes.
Drink plenty of fluids, rest well and take the doses at evenly spaced times. Complete the full course even if you feel better, to help prevent antibiotic resistance.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have had an allergic reaction to cephalosporin or penicillin antibiotics, or if you have kidney problems, and about any other medicines you take. It works only against bacterial infections, not colds or flu. Seek urgent help if you develop a severe rash, swelling of the face or lips, difficulty breathing, or severe or bloody diarrhoea.
