It combines ciprofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, with tinidazole, used when an infection involves both bacteria and anaerobic organisms or parasites.
Ciprofloxacin stops bacteria from copying their genetic material, which kills them, while tinidazole works similarly against anaerobic bacteria and certain parasites, together giving broader antimicrobial cover for mixed infections.
Take this tablet as your doctor directs, preferably with food to reduce stomach upset, and complete the full course of treatment even if you begin to feel better.
Avoid exposure to bright sunlight, as ciprofloxacin can increase sensitivity to UV light, and avoid alcohol during and for at least 72 hours after treatment. If you develop tendon pain or swelling during treatment, stop the medicine and contact your doctor promptly.
