BETHANAX 50 TABLET 10 is a medicine used to treat urinary retention, where a person has difficulty emptying the bladder completely. It is particularly helpful when this happens after surgery or childbirth, or because of nerve-related bladder problems.
It belongs to a group of medicines called muscarinic receptor agonists, which stimulate the muscle of the bladder wall to contract and help the bladder empty. Take it as directed by your doctor, usually on an empty stomach to reduce stomach upset, and continue for the duration prescribed.
Some simple measures may help alongside this medicine. These include allowing yourself time to pass urine and following any bladder examination your doctor or nurse recommends.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor about any asthma, heart conditions, peptic ulcers, or overactive thyroid, and any other medicines you take, as it may not be suitable in these conditions. Tell your doctor if you develop wheezing, a very slow heartbeat, or severe stomach cramps while taking it. Take it on an empty stomach, about an hour before or two hours after food, to reduce the chance of feeling sick.
