Benz ADP Gel is used to treat acne, including blackheads, whiteheads and red, inflamed pimples. It is a combination medicine containing adapalene 0.1%, a retinoid, and benzoyl peroxide 2.5%, an antibacterial agent.
Adapalene unblocks pores and prevents new spots forming, while benzoyl peroxide kills acne-causing bacteria and reduces inflammation. Apply a thin layer to clean, dry skin on all acne-prone areas once a day in the evening, avoiding the eyes, lips and nostrils. Improvement usually takes several weeks.
Use a gentle cleanser and an oil-free moisturiser, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen every day, and avoid sunbeds. Benzoyl peroxide can bleach hair, towels, clothes and bedding, so let the gel dry fully and wash your hands after use.
This gel is for use on the skin only. Do not apply it to broken, sunburnt or eczema-affected skin. It is not recommended during pregnancy, so tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding. Before using it, tell your doctor about other acne or skin products you use, especially other retinoids or products containing alcohol or strong exfoliants. Stop and contact your doctor if you have severe irritation, swelling, blistering or signs of an allergic reaction. Do not stop using this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
