Atz 50 Tablet 15 is used to prevent the immune system from attacking and rejecting a newly transplanted kidney. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing azathioprine, and belongs to the class of immunosuppressant medicines.
In addition to its main use, this medicine also helps manage severe rheumatoid arthritis in patients who have not responded well to other treatments. Take this tablet as prescribed by your doctor, and it is best taken with food to help minimise stomach discomfort.
Tell your doctor about any pre-existing liver, kidney or blood disorders, and about any other medicines you are taking, before starting Atz 50. Because this medicine lowers your body's ability to fight infection, tell your doctor promptly if you develop a fever, sore throat or other signs of infection. Report any persistent nausea, vomiting or unusual bruising to your doctor. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so, as this may increase the chance of organ rejection.
