Armotraz Tablet 10 is used to treat advanced or early-stage breast cancer in women who have already gone through menopause. It is specifically used for "hormone receptor-positive" tumors, where the cancer cells grow in response to the hormone estrogen.
This medication contains Anastrozole, which belongs to a class of drugs known as aromatase inhibitors. In postmenopausal women, estrogen is primarily produced by converting other hormones (androgens) into estrogen using the enzyme aromatase. Anastrozole blocks this enzyme, significantly lowering the levels of estrogen in the body and effectively "starving" the cancer cells of the hormone they need to grow.
This tablet is typically taken once daily at the same time for several years as prescribed by your doctor for maximum protection. Because lowering estrogen can affect bone density, your doctor may monitor your bone health regularly during therapy. Consult your healthcare provider if you have a history of osteoporosis or severe liver disease before starting this medication.
