Allopuric 300 Tablet 10 is used to manage gout and certain other conditions linked to high uric acid in the body. It contains allopurinol, a single-ingredient medicine belonging to the xanthine oxidase inhibitor class, which reduces uric acid levels in the blood.
By lowering uric acid, this medicine reduces the risk of painful gout attacks, the build-up of uric acid crystals in the joints, and certain types of kidney stones. It is usually taken after food, as advised by your doctor, and is often prescribed as a long-term treatment, even when you have no gout symptoms, to keep uric acid levels under control.
Drinking plenty of water during treatment helps flush uric acid from the body. Limiting foods high in purines, such as red meat, organ meats and shellfish, reducing alcohol intake, especially beer, maintaining a healthy weight and cutting down on sugary drinks can also help reduce uric acid levels.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have any kidney or liver problems, a history of allergic reactions, or are taking other medicines. Inform your doctor right away if you develop a skin rash, fever or yellowing of the skin or eyes during treatment, as these can rarely be signs of a serious reaction.
