Zostum 1.5g Injection 1

Zostum 1.5 g Injection is used to treat severe bacterial infections in adults that require urgent, intensive medical care, including serious lung infections, complicated urinary tract infections, abdominal infections and bloodstream infections.

Uses of Zostum 1.5 g Injection are:

• Lung Infections: Treats severe pneumonia.
• Abdominal and Urinary Tract Infections: Clears complicated infections affecting the abdomen and urinary system.
• Bloodstream Infections: Helps control serious infections in the blood.
• Post-surgical Infections: Treats infections following surgical procedures.

• Zostum 1.5 gm Injection should be administered by a healthcare provider. It is not recommended to be self-administered.

Zostum 1.5 gm Injection dose can be administered intravenously or intramuscularly as prescribed by a doctor.

• Cefoperazone, an active ingredient in Zostum 1.5 gm Injection, is a third-generation cephalosporin that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to specific penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) in the bacterial cell wall. It ultimately leads to the death of the bacteria. Cefoperazone has activity against many gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including many strains resistant to other antibiotics.
• Sulbactam, another active ingredient in Zostum 1.5 gm Injection, is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that works by inhibiting beta-lactamase enzymes produced by some bacteria. Beta-lactamase enzymes can break down beta-lactam antibiotics such as penicillins and cephalosporins, rendering them ineffective against the bacteria. By inhibiting the beta-lactamase enzymes, sulbactam helps to prevent the breakdown of Cefoperazone, enhancing the effectiveness of the antibiotic.

• Store Zostum 1.5 gm Injection at a temperature below 25 ºC. Do not freeze the injection.
• The reconstituted solution is stable for 7 days at 2°C-8°C and for 24 hours at 8°C-25°C.
• Discard the solution after specific periods.
• Protect it from light and moisture.
• Keep Zostum 1.5 gm Injection away from children.
• Do not use this medicine after the expiry date has passed.

• Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated and help loosen mucus in the respiratory tract.
• Avoid smoking and exposure to second-hand smoke.
• Practice good respiratory hygiene, such as covering your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.
• Urinate frequently and completely to help prevent the growth of bacteria in the urinary tract.
• Eat a healthy and balanced diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein sources.

• Avoid sharing personal items, such as towels or razors, to prevent the spread of infection.
• Seek prompt medical attention for any cuts or wounds that become red, swollen, or painful.
• Avoid douching, which can disrupt the natural balance of bacteria in the vagina.

• Practice safe sex by using condoms or other barrier methods to prevent the spreading of sexually transmitted infections.
