Zocef-CV Dry Syrup is used in children to treat bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin, and soft tissues, and bones and joints.

Uses of Zocef-CV Dry Syrup are:

• Respiratory Tract Infections: Treats pharyngitis, tonsillitis, otitis media, and bacterial bronchitis.
• Urinary Tract Infections: Helps control bacterial infections of the urinary tract.
• Skin and Bone Infections: Treats skin, soft tissue, and bone or joint infections.

Administer Zocef-CV Dry Syrup to your child as follows:

• First, you need to reconstitute the powder with water as per instructions to form an oral suspension.

• Shake the bottle well before each use.

• Use the provided measuring device to give your child the correct amount.

• Always give this medicine along with food to minimise potential stomach discomfort.

• After use, remember to cap the bottle tightly.

Zocef-CV Dry Syrup contains two active ingredients:

• Cefuroxime (125 mg): This is a type of antibiotic called cephalosporin. It works by binding to specific proteins in the bacteria called penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs). These proteins are important for maintaining the structure of the bacterial cell wall. When cefuroxime binds to them, it disrupts the cell wall causing the bacteria to break open and die.

• Clavulanic acid (31.25 mg): This ingredient doesn't kill bacteria directly but enhances the effectiveness of cefuroxime. Some bacteria produce enzymes called beta-lactamases that can destroy cefuroxime making them resistant to its action. Clavulanic acid blocks these enzymes so that cefuroxime can do its job more effectively.

Together, these two ingredients work synergistically - cefuroxime kills off the bacteria while clavulanic acid ensures that the bacteria can't defend themselves against cefuroxime's action.

• Store the Zocef-CV Dry Syrup powder in a dry place at room temperature.

• Once you've made it into a suspension with water, keep it in the fridge and use it within three days.

• Don't let it stand in direct sunlight or a damp place.

• Make sure your child can't reach it.

• If your child has a respiratory infection, ensure they drink plenty of fluids. This helps to loosen mucus and soothes a sore throat.

• For urinary tract infections, make sure your child avoids caffeinated drinks as these can irritate the bladder. Offer lots of water instead.
