Valprol-CR-300 Tablet is used to control seizures in epilepsy and help stabilise mood in bipolar disorder. It is a single-ingredient anticonvulsant medicine containing sodium valproate in a controlled-release form.
Regular use reduces how often seizures occur and helps prevent extreme mood swings. Swallow the tablet whole with food, without crushing or chewing, in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop it suddenly, as this can bring back seizures; any dose reduction must be done slowly under medical guidance.
A regular sleep routine, avoiding alcohol and managing stress help support seizure and mood control. Your doctor may advise blood tests to check liver function, platelets and medicine levels.
Before starting, tell your doctor about any liver disease, bleeding problems or kidney problems, and about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. This medicine can seriously harm an unborn baby, so effective contraception is essential for women who could become pregnant. Tell your doctor straight away if you could be pregnant. Follow the prescribed dose, frequency and duration, report persistent or serious side effects, and do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
