Epilex Chrono 300 Tablet is used for managing different types of epilepsy, including complex partial seizures in adults and children over 10 years old, controlling simple and complex absence seizures, managing manic episodes linked to bipolar disorder, and helping to prevent migraine headaches.

• Take the tablet orally with a glass of water.

• Do not break, crush or chew the tablet. It should be swallowed whole.

• The medicine can be taken with or without food.

• Make sure you take Epilex Chrono 300 Tablet exactly as your doctor has prescribed.

• Avoid stopping the medicine abruptly. Always consult your doctor first.

Epilex Chrono 300 Tablet is taken orally.

Epilex Chrono 300 Tablet consists of sodium valproate (300 mg), which works as follows:

• Increases GABA levels: By raising the levels of an inhibitory neurotransmitter called GABA in the brain, it helps reduce abnormal electrical activity and calm overexcited neurons.

• Blocks channels: It acts by blocking certain channels known as voltage-gated sodium channels and T-type calcium channels that are involved in the propagation of epileptic seizures.

• Inhibits enzyme: It inhibits an enzyme called GABA transaminase which breaks down GABA. This action further ensures increased GABA levels in the brain.

These combined actions help stabilise abnormal electrical activity in the brain that causes epileptic seizures. In cases of bipolar disorder and migraines, the same mechanisms contribute towards mood stabilisation and prevention of migraines respectively.
