Tofacitinib (5 Mg)

Tofza Tablet is primarily utilised to manage moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis in adults. This medicine falls under the category of Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitors.

Tofza Tablet is used for the following:

Management of moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis in adults unresponsive or intolerant to methotrexate
Control of active psoriatic arthritis in adults
Reducing symptoms of moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis in adults who have not responded well or are intolerant to TNF blockers
Management of active ankylosing spondylitis in adults unresponsive or intolerant to TNF blockers

Here's how you should go about taking Tofza Tablet:

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
Avoid crushing or chewing the tablet.
Follow your doctor's instructions on when and how frequently to take the medicine.
Do not stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor first.

Tofza Tablet is taken orally.

Tofza Tablet may cause the following side effects:

Upper respiratory tract infections: This can include symptoms like a cough, sore throat, or runny nose.
Headache
Diarrhoea
Nasopharyngitis: This is an infection that causes inflammation of the nose and throat.
Some uncommon but serious side effects include:
Blood clots in the lungs or legs
Tears in the stomach or intestines

Tofza Tablet contains tofacitinib (5 mg) which acts on your body in the following ways:

Selective Inhibition of JAK Enzymes: Tofacitinib selectively blocks JAK enzymes, specifically JAK1 and JAK3. These enzymes play a pivotal role in inflammation.
Reduction of Inflammation: By blocking the pathways of these enzymes, Tofacitinib effectively reduces inflammation in the body. This helps decrease symptoms like joint pain, swelling and stiffness associated with rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. It can also reduce intestinal inflammation in cases of ulcerative colitis.

Pregnancy

Breastfeeding

Alcohol
