TELEFIX 40 TABLET is a medicine used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension) and to lower the risk of heart attack, stroke, and kidney problems in adults at high risk of cardiovascular disease. It also helps protect kidney function in adults with diabetes.
It contains telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker. Take it whole with water as prescribed, with or without food, ideally at the same time every day. Continue taking this medicine as directed even when you feel well, as high blood pressure usually presents no symptoms. Do not stop taking it abruptly.
Following a heart-healthy lifestyle aids blood pressure control. Key steps include eating a low-salt diet, exercising regularly, keeping body weight within a healthy range, and avoiding excessive alcohol intake.
Tell your doctor if you have kidney disease, liver conditions, low blood pressure, or heart problems before taking this medicine. It is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Your doctor may check your kidney function and blood potassium levels periodically.
