Taxim Injection is used in the management of serious bacterial infections in adults and children under healthcare supervision.

Uses of Taxim Injection are:

• Respiratory Infections: Treats severe chest and lung infections, including pneumonia.
• Systemic Infections: Treats blood infections (septicaemia), abdominal, pelvic, and gynaecological infections.
• Skin, Joint, and Urinary Infections: Manages bacterial infections of the skin, soft tissues, urinary tract, bones, and joints.
• Surgical Prophylaxis: Helps prevent potential bacterial infections following surgical procedures.

Below are the basic steps for administering Taxim Injection:

• Taxim Injection should be administered by a trained healthcare professional only.

• Always consult your doctor for specific advice on how to use this medicine.

• Dissolve the content in 2 ml of sterile water for the injections provided.

• Once reconstituted, any unused portion of the solution should be discarded.

Taxim Injection is administered intravenously or via an intramuscular route.

Taxim Injection contains cefotaxime (500 mg), which works on your body as follows:

• Inhibits Bacterial Cell Wall Synthesis: Cefotaxime works by blocking certain enzymes in bacteria called penicillin-binding proteins which play a key role in forming a major component of the bacterial cell wall called peptidoglycan.

• Causes Bacterial Death: By disrupting cell wall synthesis, cefotaxime causes the bacteria to break open (lysis), which ultimately leads to their death. This helps reduce the number of bacteria causing the infection in your body.

• Store Taxim Injection in a cool, dry place where the temperature stays below 30°C.

• Protect it from light and do not expose it to extreme heat or cold.

• Keep it out of sight and reach of children.

• This medicine is for single use only.

• If you are managing a urinary tract infection with Taxim Injection, consider drinking plenty of water to help flush bacteria out of your system.
