CompositionSymbicort 320/9mcg Turbuhaler 60mdi is used for the regular treatment of asthma in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and above, and of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in adults. It is a combination inhaler containing budesonide 320mcg, an inhaled corticosteroid (steroid), and formoterol fumarate 9mcg, a long-acting bronchodilator.
This medicine reduces swelling in the airways and keeps them open for up to 12 hours, helping to prevent wheezing, breathlessness and chest tightness and reduce flare-ups. This higher strength is used as regular maintenance treatment; keep a separate fast-acting reliever inhaler with you for sudden symptoms. Use it every day as prescribed, even when you feel well, and rinse your mouth with water and spit it out after each dose.
Avoid smoke and known triggers, keep up with recommended vaccines such as the flu vaccine, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to check your inhaler technique regularly.
Before using this inhaler, tell your doctor if you have heart disease or an irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, low potassium, tuberculosis, or glaucoma or cataracts, and about other medicines you use, especially beta blockers and certain antifungals.
