Rosuvastatin works by blocking an enzyme in the liver that is needed to produce cholesterol, which improves your overall lipid profile and helps stop fatty deposits building up in the arteries, lowering the risk of heart disease and stroke.
Take this tablet daily, with or without food, at the same time each day as your doctor prescribes, and continue even if your cholesterol levels improve, since ongoing treatment is usually needed for lasting benefit.
Tell your doctor if you notice unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness, as this can rarely signal a serious muscle problem needing urgent review. This medicine is not suitable in pregnancy, and your doctor may check your liver function periodically during treatment.
